Our Monthly Book Club is a fun and engaging way to explore new stories, discuss ideas, and share your love of reading. Each month, the group focuses on a different book, giving everyone a chance to dive into a variety of genres and authors. The club is led by our event planner, Carolynn, who guides the discussion and encourages thoughtful conversation. Check out the current month’s featured book below and join us for lively discussion and community connection!
Our next book club meeting is March 2nd at 6 p.m. at the library. This month’s book is Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly. If you would like to join please give the library a call and let us know!
Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly tells the true story of4 African-American female mathematicians—Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden—who worked at NASA as “human computers” during the Space Race and Civil Rights era. Despite severe racial and gender discrimination (Jim Crow laws), they overcame barriers to provide crucial calculations for orbital missions and flight research, directly contributing to America’s success in space.
